House Renovations in Essex

Renovating a house usually means several trades in the right order, not several contractors on different weeks. We plan and carry out home renovations across Essex, Kent and East London using the trades we already offer: bathrooms, kitchens, plastering, tiling, decorating and plumbing, with one point of contact and a 1-year workmanship warranty.

What a renovation with us covers

Our renovation work is built from the trades on this site, so nothing depends on subcontracting work we do not do ourselves. A renovation can be one room or several, and typically draws on bathrooms, kitchens, plastering, tiling, decorating and plumbing. For rental properties between tenancies, our void property refurbishment service covers the same trades in a single visit programme.

Renovations we do not take on

Being clear about scope matters more than winning the enquiry. Our renovation work covers the inside of the property: rooms, surfaces, services and finishes. We do not take on extensions, structural alterations, roofing or loft conversions, and if your project needs those we will say so at the first conversation rather than partway through a quote.

Planning the order of work

The order of a renovation decides how long it takes and how much making good is needed. Strip out comes first, then plumbing and any plastering, then the finishes: tiling, flooring and decoration last. Because one team carries out each stage, the programme is agreed once, in writing, rather than renegotiated between separate trades.

If the bathroom is the heart of the project, our bathroom renovation cost guide explains how that room is priced, and the same approach to written quotes applies to the whole renovation.

Renovating an occupied home

Most of the houses we renovate have people living in them. We agree which rooms are worked on and in what order, protect floors and furniture, and leave the property clean at the end of each day. Water and power are only off when they have to be, and we tell you before they are.

How a renovation is quoted

A renovation quote starts with a visit, because photographs alone rarely show what is behind a wall or under a floor. We walk through each room with you, note the surfaces, the services and the order the work needs to happen in, then send a written quote broken down by room and by stage. That breakdown lets you adjust the scope, doing the bathroom now and the bedrooms later, for example, without losing the overall plan.

During the work you deal with one person, and you are updated as each stage finishes. If something unexpected is uncovered, such as damaged plaster behind old tiles, it is photographed and priced before we proceed, never added silently to the bill.

Renovations across Essex, Kent and East London

We renovate homes across our full coverage, including Basildon, Benfleet, Chelmsford, Southend-on-Sea, Brentwood and the surrounding towns, as well as north Kent and East London. Send us a description of the rooms and what you would like to change, or book a free visit, and we will scope and price the work in writing.

Frequently asked questions

Can you renovate several rooms at once?

Yes, and it is often more efficient. Plastering, tiling and decorating can be sequenced across rooms so no trade is waiting on another, and we agree the order with you before work starts.

Do you take on extensions or structural work?

No. Our renovation work covers the interior: bathrooms, kitchens, plastering, tiling, decorating and plumbing. We will tell you honestly at the first conversation if a project falls outside that.

Can I live at home during the renovation?

Usually, yes. We plan the work room by room, protect the rest of the house and tidy up daily, and we agree which rooms you need to keep using.

How is a renovation quoted?

After a visit we send a written quote broken down by room and stage, so you can see what each part costs and adjust the scope before committing.

Do you renovate rental properties?

Yes. Between tenancies we carry out [void property refurbishment](/services/void-property-refurbishment), and ongoing upkeep is covered by our [planned and reactive maintenance](/services/planned-reactive-maintenance) service.
